‘I’ll Be Gone in the Dark’ by Michelle McNamara is a True Crime novel about the Golden State Killer, also known as the East Area Rapist and Original Night Stalker. The book really became a hot topic after the capture of the Golden State Killer earlier in 2018.

I had been hunting for this book for a while but its popularity made it a little harder to come by. I was so glad and excited when I finally got it.

The GSK/EAR-ONS was a serial killer/rapist in California in the 70’s. He was active across quite a large area and for a fair number of years. He raped around 50 women and killed 10 people. (more…)

Writer’s Desk: Rewriting Diaries One

When I decided that I would completely rewrite my novel Twisted Fates, I felt a little sick. I know 100% that it is the right decision but I also know it is going to be a massive undertaking. Writing a book is always a big undertaking.

What’s It Like Studying: Professional Writing & Editing

©amylglover

For the past two years, I’ve been studying Professional Writing and Editing at uni! I’m a writer. It’s in my blood, it’s my one talent and I wanted to allow myself the chance to grow this talent through studying.

Before taking on this course, I had been 100% self-taught. Everything I knew about writing, I had found out myself. Some of this information was wrong but it had served me well in my early days of writing! I think being self-taught is fantastic, you have full control of your style and ability and definitely can go far without ever going to university but that doesn’t mean university isn’t worth it! Of course, it isn’t for everyone, but there are pros to studying and that’s what we are going to discuss today.

I chose to start my studying with a cert IV and a Diploma at Melbourne Polytechnic. If you’re a Melbourne based writer who is interested in studying I would tell you to consider this course, it’s been so beneficial for me!
