July 1… Well, it was my set deadline for finishing my current WIP, but life got in the way and this deadline was pushed back to August 2 due to a very unforeseen eye injury.

The Final Dash – Finishing The Witches of Belle River

I’ve set a date! July 1, 2019. The day that The Witches of Belle River (draft 1) will be completed.

Writing a book is hard, there’s a lot of different components to it and one of those is deadlines. I’ve been hacking away at this story since late 2016, painstakingly unravelling this plot until it even resembles an actual story, and realistically, I could probably continue to plod along but it’s time to set a date and work towards it.

Fleshing Out A Character

Characters. In my opinion, they’re the most important thing about a novel, even more important than plot. A character is the heart and soul of the story and that’s why it’s necessary to flesh out a real and well-rounded character that practically leaps from the page.

If your character is underdeveloped, you risk the reader never connecting with the story you are telling and that would be detrimental.

Music From The Witches of Belle River

I’m not musical in any way. I can’t sing very well and I can’t play an instrument. I did try to learn to play the drums for a year in primary school but it really didn’t stick. Despite my musical inabilities, I love music so much.

Music was always a part of my household when I was growing up and the appreciation for music that I learnt as a kid has followed me into adulthood.

My writing is fuelled by music. I have always created playlists to accompany my writing because I need it for inspiration. Writing The Witches of Belle River has been no different.

Amywrites 2019 Goals

Hello! Another mini hiatus unfortunately befell my little blog, but 2019 is a new year and a new chance to keep this machine running!

I want to keep writing reviews here, plus some new posts about writing that I have planned but I also want to give a nice quick mention to my Instagram account. I really think Instagram is a fantastic way to engage and becuase so many people already use it, it seems smart to be active on it!
